"In the rhythm of stillness, we find our deepest rest."
In the midst of life’s constant demands, it’s easy to lose touch with yourself. If you're feeling overwhelmed, overworked, or simply in need of a deep reset, join us for an afternoon designed to help you pause, breathe, and reconnect. This special 90-minute restorative yoga and handpan event offers you a peaceful space to release the stress of the day and find your centre. With restorative poses, the warmth of hot stones, and the calming melodies of live handpan music, you’ll leave feeling grounded, refreshed, and ready to face the world with a renewed sense of calm.
All props will be provided. No need to bring anything except yourself, and maybe a friend. Dress in warm, comfortable clothing.
Carrie will begin by guiding you through gentle somatic movement to help release the stress of your day and allow you to settle into the present moment. You’ll then move into the main portion of the event with a relaxing restorative yoga session, where Carrie will incorporate the warmth and grounding energy of a hot stone to further deepen your relaxation.
Throughout the session, you’ll be serenaded by the soothing sounds of Tyler playing the handpan. The handpan’s soft, rhythmic tones promote deep relaxation, help quiet the mind, and enhance the calming effects of the yoga practice, creating a peaceful and meditative atmosphere.
Restorative yoga is a gentle and relaxing style of yoga that focuses on rest and rejuvenation. It involves holding gentle yoga poses using plenty of supportive props for an extended period (5 to 10 minutes), allowing the body to fully relax and release tension. Restorative yoga aims to promote deep relaxation, relieve stress, and restore the body and mind to a state of balance. In a restorative yoga practice, props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps are often used to support the body in various poses. These props help create a comfortable and safe environment for deep relaxation. By fully supporting the body, the props allow the muscles to relax completely, which in turn helps to calm the nervous system and activate the body's natural healing mechanisms.
Restorative yoga poses are typically passive and involve little to no effort or muscular engagement. The emphasis is on surrendering to the pose, finding stillness, and allowing the body to open up gradually. It's important to note that restorative yoga is not about stretching or strengthening the muscles but rather about finding ease and comfort in each pose.
The handpan is a unique and captivating instrument known for its soothing, melodic tones. Shaped like an inverted steel drum, it produces rich, resonant sounds when gently tapped with the hands. Each note is harmonically tuned, creating a peaceful, meditative quality that promotes relaxation and introspection. The handpan’s vibrations have a calming effect on the mind and body, making it a perfect accompaniment to restorative yoga, where its rhythmic flow helps deepen your connection to the present moment and enhances the overall experience of rest and renewal.
